Obituary of Doreen Kennedy

KENNEDY, Doreen Alberta; After a courageous battle with cancer, Doreen died peacefully at her home in Waterford in the care of her children in her 87th year. Beloved wife of the late Jack Kennedy. Loving mother of Ted (& Valerie), Jo-Anne (& Richard) Watkinson, David (& Lynn), Debbie (& Hilary) Young, Patty (& Robert) Preston, Mary (& Kent) Lum, Michael (& Manon). Cherished Gramma of Charles (& Coralee), Matthew (& Meghan), Lauren (& Rory); Erin (& Chris), Andrew (& Ryoko), Sarah; Bradley (& Amanda), Amy; Danielle, Alexandra; Declan, Liam; & great grandchildren Sophie, & Kayden. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Predeceased by sister Donna Newmark, & great grandson Sam. Doreen was a well-loved long-time resident of Waterford who was actively involved in her community. Volunteering for St. Bernard C.W.L., Norfolk General Hospital Auxiliary, Spruce Row Museum as well as many others. Doreen's greatest passion was her children & grandchildren and loved nothing more than her large family get-togethers. Doreen was well known for her warmth & hospitality. Her children fondly remember her welcoming all their friends into her home over the years. Doreen will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Friends and family are invited to share in their memories of Doreen at the THOMPSON-MOTT FUNERAL HOME, Waterford, on Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Mass of a Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Parish on Thursday at 11am. Fr. Al Dufraimont officiating. Cremation will follow with interment at a later date.
