Dear Joy: My deepest condolences on the passing of your mom. We all know how hard it is to lose a parent and you were so fortunate to have your mom for so long. I am sorry that the past couple of years were not the best for her or your family. I really only knew your mother from the five years we spent at WDHS ... and what wonderful years they were. She always made all so welcome when we came to your home for lunch, sleep overs, whatever was happening, Mrs. Wilson seemed to enjoy having us all around and just took it in her stride that there would be two extra kids for dinner! I am so very sorry that I couldn't make visitation .... I work Mondays and Tuesdays and I also can't drive at night. My thoughts are with you and all your family. I am sure her funeral today will be a tribute to an amazing lady, who was very lucky to have you for her daughter. Hopefully the next time in Waterford, I will give you a call and we can have a visit. Love Carol

We were so saddened to read of Mrs. Wilson's passing. We remember her fondly as actively involved in so many aspects of life in Waterford; the museum, the library, the Women's Institute. Waterford has lost a great lady and she will be deeply missed. Our thoughts and prays are with the family at this time.

Doris came to live in Gardenview almost two years ago. Her time here was always filled with stories of her past. She was a very strong woman and knew what she wanted. How we enjoyed caring for her! Doris loved to listen just as much as she loved to talk. We enjoyed listening to her stories of her life adventures and world travels. She shared many stories about her genealogy and family tree. Doris had a delightful chuckle – one we heard so often. Her stories of the olden days were most memorable. Some of these stories were captivated in her book “Sarah’s Diary.” How proud we were to have a published author live in Gardenview. But, more than proud, we were very blessed to have Doris as part of our Willow Grove family. What an accomplished life she lived! We will miss you dearly Doris.

We are sorry that we cannot be with you at this time of visitation on Monday and service on Tuesday, but as you know we are presently in the south. So once again our sympathy, prayers and love. I remember how much my mother admired your mother. I lost my mother almost exactly 6 years ago and know what the loss of a truly great mother is. We can only hope to be like them.
