The Halyk family household was just one of those places you wanted to be and spend time. After befriending their daughter Debbie when we were both in the 8th grade - I was forturnate to have Alex and his wife Sofie refer to me as their "other or 3rd daughter" - a result of my spending more time at the Halyk home than my own during my teen years. Mr.Halyk had a great sense of humour and enjoyed joking around and teasing me just to get a reaction- He liked to kid me about how much time I spent at their house and how much Ukranian food I was able to consume for my size. A fond memory I have is when Mr. Halyk proudly walked me through the beautiful backyard gardens he had created - He knew each and every plant specimen and took much pride in the beautiful and peaceful gardenscapes he created. Gardening was an obvious talent and passion that he enjoyed sharing with others. I was always made me feel as though I was part of the family. His big heart and welcoming personality has been and will always remain with me. His presence will never be forgotten - Lot of love Loretta

Hello to all the family: Sympathy from the Kalis family. My Mom (Erna Kalis) will miss her chats with Mr Halyk at Golden Pond. I was fortunate to have a visit with him a few months back. I do not have any memories of being babysat by Mr and Mrs Halyk, but I certainly appreciate the care and love they shared. Hold close all the wonderful memories you have. Anita Kalis
